My name's Garrett, and I've been hooked on Pokémon Cards since 2001. Honestly, it's one of the few things that's stuck with me from being a five-year-old kid to a 30-year-old dad of four. It's cool—I got to make memories with my friends then, and now I get to pass that whole ritual along to my own kids.
Jump to 2023. I was helping my parents move out of my childhood house, and I found one of my old vintage binders. That wave of nostalgia hit me hard as I flipped through it, remembering all the cards we used to bust out at the lunch table.
When I got home and pulled them out, the reality sank in: a lot of them were in terrible shape. Part of it was sitting in an attic for 15-20 years, and the other part? We played with them—hard. We were just kids, and had no idea the value they'd eventually hold.
I started researching to see if there was even a way to restore them. That led me down a rabbit hole of refining my skills and getting the right gear. I really enjoy working with my hands, and my day job doesn't give me any of that, so this became the perfect outlet.
Since then, I've managed to save
over 100 cards for friends, family, and folks I've met at card shows. It's genuinely satisfying work.
